New Garden Bed

We added one more garden bed in amongst the other beds so I can plant asparagus.  Asparagus is a perennial and will continue to grow for 20 or more years, so the bed needs to be in a permanent spot.  We talked about placing it next to the fence, but realized that putting it next to something that needs to be sanded and repainted every so many years probably wasn't the best idea.  We realized that we could still get to all areas of the box (and surrounding boxes) by placing it where we did.  The last thing we need to do is add some sand to the box (asparagus prefers a sandy soil) and then plant the crowns.  We won't be able to harvest it until 3 years from now, but it will be worth it!!

You can tell where the newer box was placed by the fresh yellow color of the wood.
