Applesauce

We made applesauce on Sunday afternoon from the bushel of Macintosh apples we got up in Bayfield last weekend.  Applesauce is really an easy thing to make and the girls had a lot of fun helping this year!  You definitely can't beat the taste of warm applesauce when you first make it!

Helping to put the apples in the big pot.

Working on slicing apples for the 2nd batch...the first batch is in the blue bowl.

Adding the cinnamon and sugar to sweeten it some.  Clara waits patiently for a taste-test.

Working on batch 3.  Hailey slices the apples while Clara turns the food mill.

Hailey makes sure there are no seeds in the slices.  They end up getting sliced into tiny black pieces and fed into the applesauce.  They won't hurt you if you eat them, but it just makes the applesauce look like it has little pieces of dirt in it.

These containers are 6.5 cups each, so we made a total of 45 and a half cups.  We had a little bit left over that we'll eat this week.  These will go into the freezer for future consumption.
