My parents have been making doughnuts for Christmas Day for the past 25 years. They are so delicious! Yesterday, my parents watched Hailey for a couple hours while Brian & I shopped for the last Christmas gift we needed to get. Once we got back to the house, my parents were getting ready to make the doughnuts. So, Hailey got to help out and all of us got to do the first taste-testing! This year, they fried the doughnuts in Canola oil (in the past, they used Crisco) and we all liked them much better...not as heavy. We can't wait to eat some more tomorrow!
Hailey helps cut out the doughnut holes. She loved rolling out the dough! Poppy checks the temperature of the oil...it has to be just the right temperature before you can start frying. Otherwise, they will be too greasy.
Frying begins.
One of two pans complete!
