Civil War Days

We visited the Civil War Days event at a local forest preserve today.  It was definitely neat to see all the reenactors, camps, and reproductions, but it didn't seem very interactive.  I don't know a lot about the Civil War (or any war for that matter), so even though the reenactors were willing to answer any questions you might have, I didn't even know what to ask.  The girls were good sports even though they were pretty bored most of the time.  It was still a neat experience, but we'll be better prepared the next time we go!

From a distance, these seemed like tepee's of wood, but when you got closer, they were actually tepee's of guns.

This young reenactor (also known as a "Little Miss") was so cute in her little dress and apron.  For some reenactors, it's a family affair!

Hailey and Brian play a game of "Graces".  This was actually a fun game and one we're thinking of making here at home.  It's four sticks and then a hoop decorated with ribbon.

Hailey practiced quite a few times walking on the wooden stilts.  She got as many as 4 steps before losing her balance.
