4-H started a new event this year called the Cloverbud Showcase. This is where the Cloverbuds get an opportunity to talk with a "judge" about their projects. Our former 4-H Educator was the judge at last night's showcase and asked the kids questions like, "How did you do your project?", "Why did you choose that pattern?", etc. This is Hailey's last year as a Cloverbud, so next year, she will have to talk to the real judges about her projects. This is good practice for her and other Cloverbuds moving on to regular 4-H! The two of us also walked around and looked at other projects that she might be interested in doing next year as well. She's excited (and I am, too!) to be able to do more challenging projects! I entered my strawberry-rhubarb jam in the open class culinary division of the fair and got 3rd place...out of 3. Oh well, better luck next time. I think the judge was looking for unique flavors as the jam that got first in our group was a blackberry jam. The person that made that also made a red pepper jelly, which received Best of Show (judged by the same judge). So, maybe I'll have better luck with a different judge next year! It's still fun to participate!

Introducing her project.
Talking about how she did the project and why she chose the colors and pattern.
And so much more, like confidence and potential!
Her pot holder she made on a loom.
Proud of her work!
My jam is the one with the white ribbon.
