New Lake House

My parents bought a new lake house in northern Wisconsin earlier this summer.  With our summer being so busy, this was our first opportunity to get up there to see it.  We got there around 10:00 (a week ago) Thursday night.  Brian stayed until Tuesday morning and then had to drive to Iowa for a work trip.  The girls and I then rode home with my mom on Thursday.  The new house is very nice and the scenery is, as always, beautiful.  We can't wait to make more memories here!

Counterclockwise: Back of house from the pier; Front of house; Screened porch; Back deck.

Views from the yard.  I can't wait to see what it looks like in the Fall!  Upper right is a photo of their fire pit.

Brian ended up catching a 39 inch Muskie on Friday, probably out of pure luck since he didn't even have the proper bait on the line.  Thankfully our neighbor, Bob, was out and able to help Brian get the fish in the boat.  Bob said to him, "This is just not right! Your first time fishing this lake and you catch this!"  Many fisherman spend hours on the lake trying to do the same thing!

This catch was prior to the big Muskie catch.  It's a Small Mouth Bass.

Hailey got her turn at fishing and caught a few Blue Gills. The upper left photo shows the girls each getting a chance to hold the worm bait...Mommy passed on that opportunity. :-)

They also spent quite a bit of time playing along the beach making sand castles and collecting rocks.

They are the best of friends!

During a shopping trip in town, we took the girls for a pony ride.  Clara's horse was named Izzy and Hailey's was Blackie.

Hailey got much better at learning how to swim!

New wildlife to see!  So exciting!  Counterclockwise: an albino Wooly Worm (does that mean a wild winter?); Red Squirrel; Tree Frog; Pileated Woodpecker (if only that leaf wasn't in the way of his face!); and a Black Squirrel.

Common Merganser ducks

Because this is a smaller lake, we can get much closer pictures of the magnificent Bald Eagles.

Isaiah 40:31 "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Some fisherman will kill a fish and leave it for the eagles to swoop down and scoop out of the water right near their boat.  I'm not sure you can get much closer to an eagle in the wild by doing this, however, I'm not a fan of killing fish for that opportunity.

We started out on a little walk in the wooded area of the property, but the mosquitoes and downed tree limbs prevented us from getting too far.

So much to see and discover in the woods!

It was a bit chilly for most of the days we were up there (surprising for August!), so we got a fire going in the fireplace one night and roasted marshmallows for S'mores.

Clara loved "boat dides (rides)"!  She assumed we would be going on one at least once every day!

At times, the lake water was like glass.

We have to be out on the boat now to see the sunsets, but they are still beautiful!
