Brian's parents came for a visit this weekend to help assemble the new swing set. They got here around 10 am on Saturday morning. Brian's aunt and uncle also came up to help, and they arrived about 11:30 am. They left to go back home around 6:30 pm and Brian's parents spent the night. They all got a good portion of the structure put together on Saturday and were exhausted by the end of the night! When we woke up on Sunday, the forecast was calling for afternoon thunderstorms and the radar definitely confirmed that. So, Brian and his dad were back at it around 8 am. They finished most of the outdoor assembly before the storms rolled in and then worked on smaller pieces in the garage. They put the smaller pieces on in between storms and finally finished the whole thing by 4:30 pm. We still need to level out the ground a little and put some rubber squares underneath parts of it, but at least Hailey can play on it for now! She LOVES it! A big thank you to Brian's parents and aunt and uncle for all their help!
A Hailey funny from the week...when she was talking to Brian's parents on the phone, she mentioned we were going to go on a family picnic this weekend. Brian's mom said, "Ooh, what are we going to eat?" She responded, "Cake with fruit for dessert." :-)
Look who's reading!! These are the Dick and Jane books.
No DocBand!
My Arugula is coming up really well, but the Lettuce and Spinach are taking quite a while. I learned that I should have purchased a lettuce transplant if not starting the seeds indoors first. Learn as you go!
The Strawberries are doing great!
We added a little more manure and peat moss to the beds, and I was able to get Summer Squash, Red, Green, and Yellow Peppers, Rutgers Heirloom and Cherry Tomato starters into the ground on Sunday morning. I'm going to wait and do the vegetables I'm starting from seed on Tuesday or Wednesday after all these soaking rainstorms pass through. I don't want the seeds to drown!
Hailey was excited to try out the enclosed part they started to assemble on Saturday!
Moving it around to the backyard.
Clara enjoyed watching from the deck.
Great Uncle Garry and Great Aunt Wanda with Hailey and Clara.
Assembly is finished!
Hailey loves this "teeter-totter" swing on it.
Clara enjoying swinging, too!
