Blizzard 2011

It started snowing heavily at 3 pm yesterday and it's still coming down!  We got a call at 6:45 am from our village telling us that a state of emergency has been called for our town.  We are to stay home and travel is restricted to emergency vehicles only.  So far we've gotten 20 inches and the drifting in some spots is incredible.  The one thing I'm very grateful for right now is our electricity...I can't imagine not having heat in these conditions!

Daycare called us at noon on Monday to let us know that Hailey was exhibiting signs of pink eye, so we needed to come and pick her up.  They said that there had been 3 other cases in a room across the hall from her, so even though they've been bleaching as much as they can, pink eye spreads very easily and is very contagious.  Brian took her over to the doctor who confirmed she did have it and prescribed her some eye drops (which she hates!).  She had to stay out all day yesterday and could go back today, but obviously that wasn't going to happen either.

This video was taken at about 9:00 last night.

Taken out our front window

That little yellow speck next to the mailbox is the fire hydrant.

 Out our front door.

 Out our back door.

Out the back window to the left

Out the back window to the right

Out the side window...Brian was helping our neighbor dig the snow out from around some pipes and vents.

Keep in mind that we already had about 4 inches on the ground from previous snowfalls.

To the right of our driveway, Brian made a cave for Hailey.

Almost our whole backyard looks like this.

So Brian made a tunnel through it.
