Little House on the Prairie Quilt: Block 13

The second block for The Long Winter is a twist block pattern that represents the twisted hay the family had to burn after running out of wood.  Because of the large amount of snow they received that winter, the train could not get through to bring supplies to the area.  So Pa and Laura spent many hours twisting hay until their hands hurt to keep the fire burning.  The hay fabric represents the hay and the orange and yellow fabric represent the fire.
