School Diorama Project

Hailey and I worked on her school project this weekend.  It's not due until Friday, so yay for getting it done early!  She had to research an Indian tribe that they had discussed in class (or a different one from an approved list) and put together a short presentation for class.  She chose one they discussed in class, the Inuit (In-you-it) tribe.  She had already thought through what she wanted to display in the diorama, and even though I helped a little, she put almost everything together by herself.  I also let her type on the computer the answers to 5 questions she needed to attach to the diorama for the presentation.  She's excited with how it turned out!

Working on putting snow on the floor of the igloo.

More assembly

She wanted to show a woman knitting since this is how they would make their clothes.  The woman is sitting in the igloo with the knitting in her lap with two orange hands pretending to do the knitting. We used pipe cleaners for the bodies.

The finished project!  To the right of the igloo is a man fishing with a wooden pole.  To the left is a child sitting in front of a fire.  In the back is a caribou and seal...examples of what things they ate.
