Blizzard 2015

While I think the blizzard of 2011 brought us more snow, this year's wasn't much less in comparison.  It's hard to find a good spot to measure in a blizzard.  You can have a spot with 2 inches and another with 20 inches from the drifting.  The news has been reporting totals of around 12-13 inches around us, so that's what we'll go with.  School was canceled today (our third day off this year).  We got the call at 10:30 last night (we were one of the last schools to cancel...must be the Super Bowl was of more importance to the decision makers).  Hailey is thrilled!  We didn't make it to church yesterday like we wanted to, but that did allow for the girls to play out in the snow for a little bit.  They had fun!

All bundled up!

Clara helped Daddy shovel the top half of the driveway.

Instead of throwing the snow out into the yard, she threw it over her shoulder.  With the wind blowing like it was, it went all over her face and hat and Brian would say, "Hey, I just cleaned that part of the driveway!"

Brian had to use the snow blower to get through the drifts at the end of the driveway while the girls started building a little hideout.

A good snow day activity!  The girls created this paper jewelry.  I helped with the crown, but they made the rest...earrings, ring, and necklace.  I was impressed!

Some pictures of the aftermath this morning.  Given that we started with no snow on the ground, it's safe to say we got a lot!

The bushes you see to the right stand a foot and a half off the ground (to give you a perspective).
