My cousin, Robert, is here in the US studying English at a language school in Florida. He came here from the Czech Republic back in April and will be returning in time for Christmas. So you can imagine my excitement when he said he'd like to come to Chicago for a visit! Our great great grandfathers were brothers, so I guess you could say we are distant cousins. I told Hailey this and she said, "I have a distant cousin! She lives in Pennsylvania." Nice try, my dear, but different meaning. :) We picked him up from the airport on Friday afternoon and did a little shopping at the mall near our house. On Saturday, we rode the train down to Chicago. Unfortunately, the weather was rainy, windy, and cold. Pretty miserable, but we tried to make the most of the trip. We went over to Millennium Park to see the "bean", ate lunch at Portillos, and then went to Christkindlmarket before riding the train back home. During our walk from Portillos to Christkindlmarket, the rain changed over to snow for a bit. That was fun! This morning we drove over to Lake Michigan, took a picture next to the welcome sign for Wisconsin, and my family came over for a little bit to meet him. We then decided to go back down to Chicago to try to go to the Willis Tower Skydeck since visibility yesterday was zero. We drove this time, but when we got there, we found out there was a 2 hour wait! Ugh! So disappointed! We went over to the bean one more time and then had to take Robert to the airport for his flight back to Florida. :( We had a fun, short visit with him and hopefully one day soon, we'll get an opportunity to go over to the Czech Republic to visit him again!

Santa was at Bass Pro Shop in the mall, so we stopped to let the kids say hi. They don't have Santa over in Czech Republic. They get gifts from "Jezisek"...meaning Baby Jesus.
