Apple Picking

We decided not to go up to Bayfield, WI this year to go apple picking, so instead we went to a local orchard and picked a half-bushel of Macintosh.  We would have liked to pick more than that, but at $38 a half-bushel (and that's pick your own!), we said no way!  We won't be returning there next year, so thankfully there are a couple orchards just next door and down the street from this one with lower prices we can try.  Brian and I commented that maybe we should be buying our own orchard!  We plan to make some applesauce and an apple pie with our "royal" Macintosh apples. :-)

You can't pick apples without eating at least one during the process!

Placing the apples gently in the bag.  Hailey's, as you can see, didn't quite make it into the bag.

The weekend's weather was beautiful...mid 60's, sunny and partly cloudy.  It felt like a Fall day!
