We took a lake house trip this past weekend with some friends of ours, Dave and Erika. We got there around 9:30 pm Thursday night and Dave and Erika arrived around 1:00 on Friday afternoon. We took a boat ride on Friday evening since the water was calm and we knew Saturday was going to bring some windy weather. The weekend's weather was beautiful! 60's on Friday and Saturday and 70's on Sunday and Monday. Almost every day was bright sunshine, too! The guys went out fishing every morning from 6:45 to 11:00. Saturday's water was very choppy, so we couldn't go out on the boat without getting sprayed with lots of water. We decided to go into Minocqua to shop instead. Minocqua's arts and crafts fair was going on, so we stopped to see what they had (Dave and Erika found an end table they were needing). Hailey also got to ride a pony (the same one she rode last year..Q-Tip) at a stable south of town. She loved it and said afterwards that she wanted a pet pony! After grilling some hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner, we sat out on the back porch while the guys fished off the pier for a little bit. The mosquitoes were out, which also meant the bats were, too! They sometimes fly a little too close for comfort, but are really neat to see! Sunday brought calmer waters, so we were able to go for another boat ride in the afternoon. On both rides, Clara fell asleep as we were cruising across the lake (must be the sound or vibration she liked!). We also roasted some marshmallows at the fire pit to make s'mores. We left to go home around 2 pm on Monday. We did not want to leave!!! We never do! I'll have a few more pictures (from Dave and Erika's camera) to post tomorrow, so check back then!

Sound asleep.

Coming in from a morning fishing trip.
Brian, Hailey and Dave caught many, many fish! Lots of small mouth, large mouth, and rock bass.
Yellow swallowtail butterflies, Painted turtle, Mallard duck family, Blue Heron, and a Loon. The wildlife is spectacular!
While out on the boat, we saw an Eagle swoop down and catch this fish out of the water. He flew over to a tree top while two crows tried to taunt him to drop the fish (as you can see in the above right photo). The bottom right was an Eagle flying right above the lake house. So awesome!!
A Beaver and pair of Loons.
Beautiful scenery and sunsets!
Views of the lodge and a new room my parents added upstairs.
More scenery...the swallowtails loved the lilac bush! Upper right photo is of a lilypad flower starting to open.
This was Clara's first time driving the boat! :-)
Our little family!
Hailey spent a lot of time collecting rocks...her collection is the middle right photo.
Clara's first time putting her feet in lake water...she gets a little braver with each try. :-)
Making s'mores at the fire pit! Yum!
