Visit to Michigan

We visited with family in Michigan the 16th-20th and I got to do more genealogy research!  See my subsequent post about my findings.  My mom came with us and spent lots of time with my aunt.  Brian and the girls got to go fishing and swimming in Messenger Lake in Coldwater, fishing in the Kalamazoo River in Albion, and playing at a park while I was doing research.  We also went to the Calhoun County Fair to see one of my mom's high school friends and the girls got to ride more fair rides.  We spent time with my aunt and my cousin and her family each day.  It was great family time!

One of the fish Brian caught.

We took a walk over to my aunt's neighbor's house to see some wood projects he was working on and he has this big pine tree in his front yard.  It reminded me of the many times I played under the big pine tree next to my grandparents' house in Indiana.

Clara having fun lining up matchbox cars with her 2nd cousin, Dan.

Aunt Judy taught Hailey how to knit, so she continues practicing while Aunt Judy shows Clara the blue and white blanket she knitted many years ago.  Clara could often be found in Aunt Judy's lap or holding her hand.  They were best buddies the whole visit!

Aunt Judy taught the girls how to dye Queen Anne's Lace.  They are excited to try this at home, too!

We drove by children's book author, Patricia Polacco's home in Union City.

My cousin, Jill, and I.

Clara and 2nd cousin, Dylan. Clara found a picture of Dylan holding her 2nd cousin, Jensen, like this and wanted him to hold her the same way for a picture! :-)

The girls with their 2nd cousins, Dylan and Daniel. We met Dylan halfway in Ann Arbor for lunch one day. He lives near Detroit.
