Little House on the Prairie Quilt: Block 15

Our first block for "Little Town on the Prairie" is a cat pattern to represent the kitten Pa bought after realizing they needed something to control the mouse population around the house.  A mouse chewed off a section of Pa's hair one night while he was sleeping hoping to use it to make a nest.  Pa went out the very next day and bought the kitten.  Laura described the kitten as having fur "blue as tobacco smoke" and patches of white fur on "its face and its breast and its paws and the very tip of its tail".  We found a bluish-gray fabric for the cat body, and I also added small white whiskers via embroidery.
