We visited with Brian's family in Indiana this past weekend and had lots of fun! We did a little shopping on Friday including seeing the baby chickens and ducks at Big R. We went out to dinner Friday evening with his Aunt Lana (mom's sister) and his Uncle Garry & Aunt Wanda (dad's brother and sister-in-law) at Applebee's and then got ice cream afterwards at Dairy Queen. Saturday we spent some time outside doing some Spring yard cleanup for a neighbor. Grandpa let Hailey drive the tractor afterwards...she was so excited! Their neighbor came over and asked if the girls would like to go ride a train of his at his friend's house over by where the old drive-in movie theater used to be. That made the thought, "That's near where I used to live" pop into my head. Then I said to him, "One of our neighbors had a track in his back yard when I was young." He asked me who it was and after I told him, he said, "That's where we are going!" We kept it a secret from the girls until we got there. They were so surprised and excited! The person that owns the track and put it together (with the help of another neighbor) were friends of my family when I was growing up. My family lived just around the corner and I remember going over to ride the train when he was first getting it started up. He said they just celebrated their 30th anniversary last year of the first track being ready to go. I was Hailey's age then. It was a fun trip down memory lane for me! And now we're adding new memories! The girls were so spoiled all weekend that they did not want to go home and were not in very good moods in the car. At one point, Hailey said something that made Clara mad enough to say, "Now there are only 3 people in this family! The one with the headphones on is out!"
Friday night's dinner at Applebee's.
Looking at something on Great Aunt Lana's phone.
Helping to lower the jack under their camper onto the brick paver. The girls were excited about Grandma and Grandpa's new camper!
While picking up sticks at the neighbor's, they found part of a wasp's nest on the ground.
Riding in the trailer on top of the sticks we picked up in the yard.
Hailey driving the tractor. Clara had to sit on the seat behind her in order for there to be enough weight for the seat to stay down (once the seat is up, the tractor shuts off...safety feature).
Pure surprise that they are riding a miniature train!
The track goes all the way around the blue shed in the background and then 2 or 3 more lots behind me.
Looking down the other way. It was a beautiful late afternoon...the birds were singing and flying among the trees.
Riding over the bridge!
We drove by my old house and took a picture. Look at the trees!
This is what it looked like right after my parents had it built in 1984-85.
