On Friday night, Brian and I went to his company's holiday party. I think this is the first time just the two of us have been out by ourselves since Clara was born! We enjoyed a nice meal and glass of wine.
On Saturday, we attempted to go and cut down our Christmas tree. Unfortunately, it was raining out and had been since the early morning hours, so everything was very muddy. The first place we went to was the same place we went to last year. We thought this would be a good place to go since you could drive through the tree lot and not have to get out and walk. We thought this would work out best again this year, because Clara's too little to be trudging out in the cold with us. To our disappointment, the field was extremely muddy and we were advised that unless we had four wheel drive, we'd most likely get stuck. They were taking wagons pulled by tractors out instead. Strike out number one. We then came back home for lunch and went back out again to try a different tree farm. This one was well picked over and the cheapest pre-cut tree was $75. Strike out number two. By now, we're running out of time and disappointed. So, to Menards it was, and we walked out with a 7' Fraser Fir tree for $23. We didn't do the work to cut it down, but it's still not a fake tree! And it still smells good! We brought it home and got it in some water. Shortly after that, we headed down to my aunt and uncle's house for a family Christmas party (my dad's family). We had lots of fun seeing everyone for the short couple hours we could be there!
We went to church this morning and then started decorating the tree and house after getting home. The tree is done, but the house is nowhere near. Hopefully I can get a good amount of it finished in the next few days!
Hailey funnies from the week:
- After watching Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas, she says to Brian and me, "Tommy isn't feeling good. He's sick. He didn't get the flu shot." In her world, if you're sick with anything, you didn't get the flu shot. :-)
- Brian taught Hailey to raise her arms to show her muscles when he says, "Show me your guns." So, the other day she walks over to me and says (while holding her arms in the raised position), "Mommy, are my guns little?" Trying to give her a hard time, I nod my head yes. She looks at me with a disgusted face and says, "Are you serious?" Definitely not the answer she was looking for!

We've gotten so many cute outfits from friends and family. This one is from my cousin, Crystal.
